The online course comprises thirteen modules covering the following topics:

- Withholding and withdrawing life-sustaining medical treatment
- Advance care planning and advance care directives
- Substitute decision-making for medical treatment

- Children and end of life decision-making
- Futile or non-beneficial treatment
- Urgent treatment for adults
- Managing conflict
- Voluntary assisted dying and the law
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and end of life law
- End of life law in aged care
- Inclusive end of life decision-making for diverse populations.

Comments
The course aims to address current gaps in clinicians’ knowledge of end of life law. Course content includes an overview of the law and its application to clinical practice, case studies, legal case examples, and self-assessment activities. The online training is complemented by the End of Life Law in Australia website.
This activity is accredited for CPD hours by RACGP, Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM).
Continuing professional development points may be available for nurses and allied health professionals completing the relevant course.
